Junior Rory Ziegra had a monster day in the backfield for Timpanogos, as rushed for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns on 11 rushing attempts to beat the West Panthers 43-15 in Salt Lake City.
The T-Wolves opened the scoring on a Gabe Sweeten 4 yard pass to Hadyn Sandstrom. The T-wolf offense then scored 3 touchdowns in the second quarter. Sweeten and Ziegra took turns scoring, with Sweeten finding Maxx McWhorter from the 10 yard line to extend the lead to 15 after a 2 point conversion. After a quick stop from the stout Timberwolf defense, Ziegra exploded for a 64 yard run to bring the score to 22-0. Sweeten then found the end zone on a 4 yard run with 8 seconds left to make the halftime score 29-0 in favor of Timpanogos. Ziegra found another lane to break open a 58 yard touchdown run, and Matthew Arteaga closed the books on the T-wolf scoring with a 16 yard run.
Sweeten finished the day with 13 of 24 passing for 160 yards and 2 throwing TD’s. On the ground he carried for 50 yards on 9 attempts, adding another score with his legs. McWhorter led all receivers with 6 catches for 98 yards and a score.
The T-Wolves finish their non-region slate with a road trip to Vernal to take on the Uintah Utes on Friday at 7:00 pm.
